Dr George studied Medicine at the University of Leeds graduating in 2007 with honours, several prizes and a 1st class intercalated BSc degree. He subsequently trained in London and was awarded a prestigious Welcome Trust Clinical Research training fellowship to undertake a PhD in cardiovascular pharmacology at University College London (UCL). This research was awarded several regional and national prizes and published in a high-impact journal. During his training he developed a special interest in Hypertension and Cardiovascular risk. He completed his specialist training in General (Internal) Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics in 2020.
Dr George is a consultant in Acute and General Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics at University College London Hospital (UCLH). He is the clinical lead for the Hypertension service and works on the acute medical take and general medicine ward. He is the lead for the trust's 'Medical Emergency' guidelines and sits on several committees supporting the management of hypertension and cardiovascular disease across London. He is a member of the British and Irish Hypertension Society and the British Pharmacological Society.
Dr George is an honorary associate professor at the UCL Institute of Cardiovascular sciences and enrols patients into clinical research trials at UCLH looking at novel ways of managing hypertension. He is the lead for the 'Use of Medicines' module in the UCL Medical School and teaches on several under and post graduate courses on a range of topics including Hypertension, Medical Emergencies, Clinical Trials and Prescribing.
